Dr. Michael T. Dunn
Senior Pastor

Dr. Michael Dunn was installed as Minister of First Christian Church in September 2006. He first came to FCC in February 2001 to be the associate minister. Prior to coming to Houston, he served as the minister of Downtown Christian Church in Johnson City, Tennessee for over nine years. He also taught Humanities as an adjunct faculty member of Milligan College, a Christian liberal arts college in northeast Tennessee. He received his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Emmanuel School of Religion in 1991 and 2000. He is married to Dawn, and they have four children: Caleb, Madeleine, Grace, and Hollis.

 

Jeremy M. Wood
Worship Minister

Originally from the St. Louis, Missouri area, Jeremy came to First Christian Church as Pianist in 2001 and was installed as Director of Music in April of 2002. Since August of 2002, Jeremy has held the position of Associate Director of Music at St. Agnes Academy in Houston, Texas. Prior to coming to First Christian, he served on the Adjunct Music Faculties of Houston Baptist University (Houston, Texas), McLennan Community College (Waco, Texas), and Southwest Baptist University (Bolivar, Missouri) and enjoyed a successful freelance career as pianist, accompanist, coach and director in Opera, Music Theater, and Church Music. Jeremy studied Piano, Voice, and History at Southwest Baptist University and earned a Masters Degree in Piano Accompanying/ Coaching from Baylor University. Jeremy enjoys good friends, good books (and bookstores!), lots of tennis, and grabbing every minute possible to spend with wife Tracy.

Jenni Fairbanks

Family Minister


Jenni grew up in Dickinson, Texas where she began her faith journey at First Christian Church of Dickinson. She is a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and completed her Masters of Divinity degree from Baylor University's Truett Seminary. Jenni spent five years working as a hospital chaplain, most recently serving with the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. Jenni and Earl have been married for eight years, and they have a three- year old son, Liam. Jenni is grateful to be “coming home” to the Disciples of Christ. In her spare time, Jenni enjoys being with her family, theological reading, interior design magazines, music, and coffee. Jenni considers herself a Texas salsa connoisseur.

Annette Tarver

Children's Minister


Annette Bruer Tarver grew up in Bethany Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Jackson, Tennessee as a sixth generation member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Rice University and an Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. She and her husband Brent have been members of First Christian Church - Houston for over 18 years, and she has taught adult and children's Sunday school nearly the entire time. She is a founding leader of Faith Factory and has directed Vacation Bible School for the last twelve years. In addition Annette has chaired the Fall Festival, the Dr. Seuss Birthday event, two Christmas Vacation Bible Schools and several special series for children.
She chaired the Building Committee for the $5+ million addition and renovation (2002-2006) as well as the Membership Study (2002), the Task Force (2000), and the Evangelism Department (1995, 1996). Annette and Brent have two children, Robbe who is a sophomore at Centre College in Kentucky and Annsley who is a sophomore at St. Agnes Academy.

Ashlee Driskell

Youth Minister

Ashlee Driskell came on board as the youth minister for First Christian Church near the end of July 2011. A recent graduate of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Ashlee never thought God would lead her back to Houston, TX. She graduated in May 2011 with a double major in English and History and a minor in 4th-8th Education. She is proud to be a State of Texas certified teacher and loves using creativity to enhance knowledge, guide, and mentor students through this crazy journey called life. She is passionate about impacting the young
people in our world and finds there is no greater joy than to invest
in their lives. Ashlee is recently married to Daniel. The two begin their life together with a solid church family supporting them. They are thankful for the opportunity to be a part of a mission bigger than themselves at FCC Houston. You can contact Ashlee on her email: youth [at] fcchou.org.


 

Laura M. Thewalt
Church Administrator

Laura has been with FCC since late 2008. Laura is originally from Michigan and will probably always consider herself a "Michigander."

She graduated from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI where she studied Communications. Her first career spanned 16 years in automotive advertising. She is a 'cradle Episcopalian' and is very active in serving in the Episcopal Church. When not at 'work- church' or 'church-church' she enjoys reading, watching TV and spending time with friends and family (her sister also lives in Houston and is an elementary special education teacher in the Cy-Fair district.) Judith Keenan
Financial Secretary

Judi has been FCC’s Financial Secretary for over 25 years. Judi has an accounting degree from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. She has been married for 48 years and has two adult sons and seven grandchildren, three are here in Houston and four are up in the Dallas area. Judi is also the former Financial secretary of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and Bethany Christian Church.

Robert Fillmore

Building Operations Supervisor

Robert has been with FCC for over 20 years. Robert resides in Houston and he enjoys following sports.

Kenneth Boozer

Staff Custodian

Kenneth has been one of our staff custodians for almost 25 years. Kenneth resides in Houston, when not at FCC he follows all his favorite NCAA sporting teams (Hook 'em Horns!). Kenneth is proud of his sobriety since 1988.
