MISSION & OUTREACH

FCC serves two at-risk schools in our area: Gordon Elementary and Shearn Elementary.
Our desire is simply to serve the teachers, students and administration in ways that bless them and meet concrete needs. We do this through beautification projects, back to school events, providing meals for teachers and mentoring kids. Contact our pastor, Michael Dunn [ mdunn at fcchou.org ] if you'd like to be involved!

Here is what is currently scheduled:

Thursday, August 11, 7:00pm at Willow Meadows Baptist Church: Informational meeting; learn opportunities to serve at Shearn and Gordon Elementary Schools

Friday, August 1, at Shearn: "Back to School"  we'll help teachers set up their rooms, provide a quick lunch for teachers, and "greet and meet" teachers and staff

Monday, August 15, at Gordon: "Welcome Back" help us welcome the teachers back to school at Gordon, with a hot breakfast.

Wednesday, August 17, at Shearn: "Afternoon Break" Willow Meadows Baptist Church will provide afternoon refreshments to faculty during faculty meeting break time. Will need volunteers and mentors to be available.

We consider missions to be any way we can serve a church member in need, a stranger in our community, or a nation in the world. We initiate various missions and organize outreach opportunities on a local and global level. We partner with other local churches and groups such as Habitat for Humanity, and work with local food banks, emergency relief, and help for the homeless. If you are looking for a place to serve and make a difference, contact us through admin@fcchou.org or (713-526-2561).

Men's Breakfast: meets monthly for fellowship and local service/ mission projects. Contact Quin Costin: qcostin@gmail.com for more information.

Other ways we reach out::

Each year at Easter we raise funds for the Disciples Rice Fund. The funds go to buy locally grown Rice that is sent to Good Samaritan Ministries. The rice is matched with beans from North Texas and together they provide a balanced meal.

We also work to be good stewards of God's creation by being a participating organization with Recycling Fundraiser (formerly EcoPhones) a recycling and fund raising program. The church also provides a large collection box for laser toner cartridges from home office eqipment like fax machines and small copiers.
